During pregnancy and nursing the babies, the hamster-mother should be feed with a few additional things. In general,
you can continue with the normal diet. But you should have in mind, that the mother will decide if and how many
babies she will rear, upon the basic environmental conditions. The better this conditions, the bigger is the chance
for the babies to become adults.
These basic conditions are:
- provided food, quality and quantity
- contents of the food (esp. protein, the amount of protein feed during pregnancy is one of the interesting factors for the number of babies she will rear)
- hygienic conditions
- silent environment without stress-factors (disturbances are causing stress, stress causes her to reduce the litter)
- secure environment (if she feels insecure, she will reduce the litter)
